Some people are just weird.

HINTS FOR EVERYONE

You don't think I'm going to just list them all here for you do you? Nah. What fun would that be? However, I will give you some hints:

  1. I'm a geek so you know I'm going to put Star Wars Easter Eggs in there. The question is, how many can you find?
  2. There was a toy line and cartoon TV show in the 80s that featured a heroic prince, a sword, and a skeleton-like villain.
  3. The father of fantasy, J. R.R. Tolkien, can't go without some nods. Without him where would fantasy be?
  4. The first novel I read cover-to-cover was "Huckleberry Finn" by Mark Twain. It's an powerful story. It was assigned by my high school teacher, Lee Loftis, and Mr. L was a very influential person on me. He taught me how to understand literature on a deep level.

FIND THE HIDDEN GEMS

When I read books and watch movies, I love finding Easter Eggs––references to other books, movies, comics, TV shows, music, or pop culture icons. So, naturally, I put all kinds of pop culture references in WARDS OF IASOS. They make me smile and I hope they make you smile, too.

How many Easter Eggs have you found? There are several in WARDS. Some are obvious and others are not. Just so you know, not all of my Easter Eggs are for kids. Adults will find some just for them. After all, Quentin Tarantino movies are not appropriate for children, but you might find a couple of references to his movies in there.

HINTS FOR ADULTS

You don't think I'm going to just list them all here for you do you? Nah. What fun would that be? However, I will give you some hints:

  1. There are so many outstanding fantasy writers, that they cannot all be honored. But one writer's work resonates with me. I started reading George R.R. Martin's work in the early 2000s on the recommendation of my friend, Gabe Fanning, who has since passed away. I have never been the same.
  2. The greatest film maker of my generation, Quentin Tarantino, spoke to me like no other. He is the beat poet of GenX. I can't write without some nods to him.
